Journalist shares update on rumoured Inter Milan interest in West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek
Journalist Ryan Taylor insists fresh reports linking West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek with a move to Inter Milan are “totally inaccurate”.
Corriere dello Sport reported in its print edition on Wednesday, via FC Inter News, that Soucek is wanted by the Italian giants on a free contract.
The Czech Republic international is no stranger to being linked with Inter, but Daily Mirror reporter Taylor has shot down these latest rumours.
“Tomas Soucek is repeatedly being linked with a free transfer to Inter Milan next summer. Totally inaccurate,” he posted on Twitter [15 November].
“He signed new long-term contract with West Ham earlier this summer, just hasn’t been made public.”
Make it official
The Soucek to Inter rumours have been ongoing for the past couple of months now, which is unsurprising given his contract situation.
For all the talk of a deal having already been agreed, it is bizarre that United have not come out and announced the fresh terms.
Soucek had an underwhelming campaign last time out, although he has proved to be a valued member of the first time this season.

Losing Soucek for nothing would be a big blow, but that does not look like it will happen if the murmurings behind the scenes are any indication.
Again, though, surely it is in West Ham’s best interests to announce the new contract? This speculation is not doing anyone any good.
If the player has yet to officially put pen to paper, these ongoing rumours may well tempt him to return to the negotiating table.
While Soucek does appear set to stay put, it is now down to the club to make that official.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have tied down another player to a new contract.
