West Ham United eyeing four players ahead of January transfer window, Serhou Guirassy among them

West Ham are keeping tabs on four attacking players ahead of the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The online publication reported on Monday (23 October) that United are eager to bring in a new striker when the window reopens, which will in turn throw Michail Antonio’s future in doubt.

Stuttgart ace Serhou Guirassy is one of those being monitored, it is claimed, but he is expected to miss the next few weeks through injury.

The report adds that Adam Hlozek from Bayer Leverkusen and AZ Alkmaar star Vangelis Pavlidis are two other targets.

RB Salzburg teenager Karim Konate is the other player being eyed up, although that is a move West Ham are expected to explore closer to the summer.

Do it

West Ham could really do with bringing in a goalscorer to lead their line in the new year, but it has previously been suggested they have no money to do so.

It may well be, then, that a player has to be moved on in order to free up funds to move for one of those mentioned above.

Guirassy is a name that will no doubt get West Ham fans excited, having continued his fine form for Stuttgart this season with a staggering 14 goals in eight Bundesliga matches.

That type of form may well put Guirassy out of United’s reach, both in terms of Stuttgart’s asking price and also in terms of competition from elsewhere.

Hlozek and Pavlidis also look like talented players that could do a job at London Stadium, while not a great deal is known about 19-year-old Konate.

Should any of those players come in, it could spell the end of Antonio’s time at the club. It goes without saying that Antonio has been a great servant, and he may well still have a part to play, but he cannot be relied upon to lead the attack game after game.

Before we can properly discuss Antonio’s future, though, the board must first free up funds to bring in one of these new players in January.
