West Ham United: Dean Jones makes Said Benrahma prediction as London Stadium exit mooted

Said Benrahma will be “torn” as to whether he should leave West Ham if a bid comes in from a Saudi Arabian team, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Algeria international has started just four Premier League games for the Irons this season and has often failed to make an impact when given a chance.

A move away from the London Stadium in 2024 has been mooted, but Jones says any decision could depend on manager David Moyes’ own future at the club.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT [2 December], Jones said: “It seems like an obvious link. I’ve been struggling for a while to really be convinced that Benrahma has got a future at West Ham.

“But, then again, if you look at the David Moyes situation right now, if he were to leave West Ham, maybe Benrahma would get a new lease of life.

“I’m sure there is part of him thinking he has got to leave, but there will also be that slight hesitation just in case David Moyes does end up leaving and he has the chance to play under a manager that will perhaps appreciate what he can bring to the team a bit more.

“I think that’ll be the one thing that has him a little bit torn. But, certainly, Saudi Arabia does seem like a proposal coming his way.”

Cash in

It is looking as though West Ham will have to raise funds through player sales if they are to bring in any new recruits in the January window.

In Benrahma, they have the perfect player to offload as the forward offers very little yet could still generate a transfer fee from the Middle East.

The 28-year-old has failed to score in 17 appearances this season, while he has gone 11 matches without a direct goal involvement of any sort.

Moyes gave Benrahma an opportunity to impress against Backa Topola in midweek, but failed to take it and was hauled off in the second half.

Even if the Scotsman does move on next year, the new manager will surely share the same view on Benrahma in that he is not good enough.

If a team from Saudi Arabia – or anywhere, for that matter – decides to step forward with a bid in the coming months, United must cash in while they can.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers player has made a bold score prediction ahead of the meeting with Crystal Palace.
