West Ham United transfer news: Roma in talks to include Rick Karsdorp in Gianluca Scamacca deal

Roma are in talks to include out-of-favour defender Rick Karsdorp in a deal to sign West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Romagiallorossa.

Karsdrop, 28, is no longer in Jose Mourinho’s plans at the Italian club after making just 13 Serie A appearances last season.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 14 June that Roma chief Tiago Pinto is set to travel to London in an attempt to push through the signing of the Hammers striker.

Romagiallorossa now believes that Karsdorp, who can play at right-back or on the right side of midfield, could be included in negotiations to get the Scamacca deal over the line.

Smart thinking

It is looking ever more likely that Scamacca is going to leave West Ham United after just one season, but it looks like a smart piece of business to ask for a player in the negotiations – especially in a position where they are lacking options.

David Moyes currently only possesses Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer as options at right-back, so this is certainly going to be an area he will look to strengthen this summer.

The Hammers looked at a swoop for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the January transfer window, but that move is looking far less likely after his recent resurgence at Manchester United.

Karsdorp will be looking to leave Roma this summer after a complete breakdown in the relationship with manager Mourinho, with the former Manchester United manager stating that the defender had “betrayed his teammates” before publicly shaming him for his “poor attitude”.

Including the 28-year-old in a deal for Scamacca could be the best way for both clubs to get what they want from the summer transfer window.
