West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen ‘would be perfect’ for Newcastle United – Darren Bent

Darren Bent has suggested West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen can further his career by joining Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

Bowen has again impressed for the Irons this season and only signed a new seven-year contract at London Stadium last month.

However, Bent believes Bowen – as well as Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise – would be a good fit for Newcastle.

“I like [Miguel] Almiron, I think he’s done really well,” Bent said on talkSPORT [28 November].

“He’s come back from when people were making a mockery of him. But there are better right wingers out there.

“Someone like an Olise, from Palace, would be perfect. I know he’s just signed a new contract, but who knows what’s going to happen at Palace at the end of the season.”

Asked by co-host Andy Goldstein if Bowen would be a good fit, Bent replied: “He would be perfect. And it would be the right step for him, Newcastle.”

No chance

Bowen would undoubtedly be a good fit for Newcastle, as he would any other Premier League club, perhaps barring Manchester City.

West Ham

The 26-year-old has showed his quality in the top flight over the past four years as a Hammer, having arrived from Hull City for a bargain £22million in January 2020.

When factoring in his recently signed contract, it would take a fee of around four times that for West Ham to even consider cashing in on Bowen.

With eight goals and an assist from 12 Premier League appearances this season, the versatile forward has once again been United’s star man.

The fan favourite said upon signing his new deal that he would happily spend the rest of his career at West Ham.

Newcastle therefore have no chance of signing Bowen in the January window and would be better off focusing their attention elsewhere.
