Inter Milan targeting summer transfer for West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is a summer transfer target for Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian outlet reported in its print edition on Wednesday (11 October), via TUTTOmercatoWEB, that Soucek is now firmly in Inter’s sights.

The report points out that Soucek is due to be out of contract at the end of the season, although West Ham have the option to extend that by a further year.

Inter are said to be targeting the Czech Republic international to add physicality and a little bit more height to their midfield.

Nothing to fear

Having himself recently confessed to having an off-season last time out, Soucek has stepped things up again this campaign.

The 28-year-old has looked back to his best with four goals and an assist in 10 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers.

Inter are not the first side to be linked with Soucek in recent weeks, and that is entirely understandable given his contract situation.

West Ham United

But the fact the Hammers have the right to extend that by 12 months means there is very little to worry about on the face of it.

As unlikely as it seems, Soucek may push for a move away if Inter come calling, but West Ham could still demand a fee.

It is always nice to see players being linked with some heavyweights across the continent, but it would be better still if fresh terms are agreed.

United may have strengthened in central midfield, yet Soucek remains a regular starter and that will likely be the case for a while longer yet.

In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano has hailed the “crucial” factor behind Jarrod Bowen’s new West Ham contract.
