West Ham United transfer news: Dean Jones shares fresh Lucas Paqueta London Stadium exit update

Manchester City are still interested in a move for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta, according to Dean Jones.

The journalist added that fellow Premier League club Aston Villa could be a good move for the Brazilian midfielder.

Paqueta, who has just returned from injury, boasts five goals and six assists in all competitions this season.

“I don’t think that Aston Villa would be a bad move for Paqueta, to be honest,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT. “But, if he is going to leave West Ham, it’s going to take something special in terms of what they are promising him for the future.

“Considering his performances across the season, you could probably say that he is West Ham’s most important player in terms of making that team tick.

“Villa obviously have their work cut out in terms of signing him because I have heard that Manchester City are still interested in him and might have something to say about where he goes next.

“I can’t believe for one second that Villa would be able to sign Paqueta without some competition from Manchester City. It’s a tough deal to do – and probably expensive – but I think it is also a reflection of just where Villa are right now and where they’re heading.”

West Ham must fend off Manchester City interest in Lucas Paqueta

The Hammers have really missed Paqueta lately, with manager David Moyes undoubtedly very relieved to have him back on the pitch.

The Brazilian, who missed the beginning of 2024 through injury, has already made a very positive impact since returning.

He played a key role as the Hammers returned to winning ways, firstly against Brentford and then against Everton.

It is unsurprising that interest is emerging in the midfield star, but he ought to be kept at the London Stadium if the club are to have real ambitions in the coming seasons.

They could, however, be tempted into selling the Brazil ace should a mega offer arrive, which is very possible if indeed Manchester City plan to pursue his signature.

Should that move go through, the player really does risk losing his momentum in the Premier League given the long list of stars already available to Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

In other West Ham news, Hammers fans have been slammed by Garth Crooks as a “certain” Moyes exit claim is made.
