Jarrod Bowen approach made in West Ham United transfer news

David Sullivan has made it clear that Jarrod Bowen is not for sale amid suggestions a £50million bid was tabled to West Ham in January, according to HITC.

Graeme Bailey reported for the website on Wednesday (7 February) that the Irons turned down the offer from an unnamed club last month.

No follow-up bid was made as Sullivan’s stance was clear on Bowen, who only recently committed to the club until the summer of 2030.

Jarrod Bowen’s Liverpool links

The fact that Bowen is wanted by rival clubs is hardly surprising given his form in a West Ham shirt.

Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked over the past year or so for a player boasting 24 goals and assists in the league since the start of last season.

Those rumours had some United fans concerned around the summer time as we all know what happened with Declan Rice and Arsenal.

However, Bowen put an end to that speculation by penning a six-and-a-half-year deal four months ago.

West Ham will miss the big-game performances of Bowen, who scored the winner in the 2023 UEFA Conference League final.

That means a bid of £50million just will not suffice for United as the club would have to find a replacement who would likely cost more.

Should an improved offer of, say, £80m come in, that would then make things very interesting.

For now, Sullivan deserves praise for making it clear that West Ham are not looking to sell, but rather strengthen from this point on.
