West Ham United transfer news as Wednesday contact made with Roma defender Bryan Reynolds
West Ham United have initiated contact with Roma defender Bryan Reynolds on Wednesday morning (14 June) about a transfer to the London Stadium, according to Romagiallorossa.
The 21-year-old, who is capped three times for the U.S. international team, was out on loan at Westerlo last season and is no longer part of Jose Moutinho’s plans at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Atheltic’s Tom Bogert previously shared (22 May) that Reynolds is expected to leave Roma this summer, with the Italian club also needing to raise funds through player sales by 30 June.

David Moyes is on the trail for a right-back this summer, and Romagiallorossa has now reported that Reynolds has “had contact with the Hammers in the last few hours” about a potential switch to the East London club.

Great option
With Roma desperate to raise funds before the end of June, a quick and efficient deal could be on the cards for the Hammers.
Reynolds is clearly no longer in the plans at Roma, so they would likely be willing to sanction his exit as long as the right offer is made.
From a West Ham United perspective, Moyes is desperately short of options at right-back and will certainly look to sign a player in this position during the summer transfer window.
Currently, Vladimir Coufal is the only out-and-out option on the right side of defence, with centre-backs Thilo Kehrer and Ben Johnson also able to play here.
However, if the Hammers are going to deal with the added European burden once again next season, further options will need to be snapped up.
Reynolds ticks a lot of boxes for Moyes, and the American could be an understudy for Coufal before stepping into his shoes over the coming years.
