West Ham United transfer news as Timo Werner deal unlikely, RB Leipzig striker doesn’t want move
West Ham United are unlikely to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The publication reported on its website on Monday (27 November) that the German is “apprehensive” about a Premier League return.
TEAMtalk added that Werner, who previously played for Chelsea and earns close to £200,000-a-week, is being targeted by a number of English clubs, including the Hammers.

“Timo Werner is apprehensive about a potential return to London this winter with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Fulham all eyeing up a move, TEAMtalk has learned.
“Indications from insiders in Germany are suggesting that such a move is unlikely as the former Chelsea man does not have much appetite for the Premier League in this moment.”

Blow?
Given the current striker situation at West Ham, it seems that manager David Moyes could certainly do with signing a new attacker in the January transfer window.
The man in the London Stadium dugout currently has Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama to choose from in that area, having lost Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta in the summer.
But Antonio is currently out injured, while Ings and Mubama have been largely left out in the cold by Moyes this season.
The worrying situation has been highlighted by the fact that winger Jarrod Bowen is the club’s top goalscorer in all competitions, followed by midfielder Tomas Soucek.
It certainly makes sense to target a new striker, but it seems that Werner will not be that player. And that could be a wise decision from the powers that be at West Ham given the striker’s struggles at London rivals Chelsea.
Such struggles may play on his mind if he was return to the English top flight, but his confidence won’t exactly be high anyway given his lack of game time at current club RB Leipzig.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign one Ukraine sensation in 2024, with an exit for the player “widely expected.”
