West Ham United transfer news as Roma in talks with agent of Gianluca Scamacca about potential move
West Ham star Gianluca Scamacca could be nearing an exit from the London Stadium as his agents are in talks over a move to Roma, according to Filippo Biafora.
The Il Tempo journalist tweeted on 24 July that the Serie A side have made contact again with the Hammers and the Italian forward’s agents after they failed to sign Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.
The Italian newspaper reported on 23 July that the 24-year-old was in Italy to undergo “medical checks”, but that he hasn’t had any meetings with Roma as the club continues to try and convince the Hammers to lower their asking price for the player.
Not going away
It’s pretty clear the situation around the possibility of Scamacca leaving isn’t going away any time soon and it could well rumble on for the next few weeks.
West Ham are currently in an extremely difficult position because they don’t want to allow the forward to leave, but he has spoken about his desire to join Roma and he isn’t exactly moving to end the speculation.
The Serie A club seem pretty set on landing him and they must be hearing that there is still a distinct possibility of securing his services otherwise they wouldn’t be continuing with this long pursuit.

Scamacca’s agents being involved could be likely to bring the situation forward a little as they might be able to find some common ground between the two sides to strike a deal.
The key thing for us is that we can’t allow him to leave until a replacement is in place and we receive a fee that values the player correctly after paying a reported £35.5million to sign him from Sassuolo last summer.
In other West Ham news, an England international has been told to reject Saudi interest in favour of a move to the Hammers.
