West Ham United transfer news as Nayef Aguerd wanted in Saudi Arabia with ‘significant fee’ on cards
Nayef Aguerd is wanted by Saudi Arabian clubs again this summer, with West Ham set to demand a “significant” transfer fee to secure his services, according to Ben Jacobs.
The talkSPORT journalist reported via his X account on 29 April that Al-Ittihad enquired about his availability in January, but the Hammers were not willing to entertain offers.
It has now been said that Al-Qadsiah has also joined the race to sign the centre-back, although a large fee would be expected as he is contracted at the London Stadium until 2027.
Nayef Aguerd exit mooted in “significant” West Ham transfer news
Aguerd has had a complicated season at West Ham, having suffered from injury issues throughout the year while Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos have been the first-choice duo in the heart of David Moyes’ defensive unit.
A big-money move to one of the interested Saudi Arabian clubs could be the best move for all parties, with the Hammers raising money from his sale to reinvest in the squad while he could make plenty of money out of the deal.
It had been suggested in January that the player’s head may have been turned by the Al-Ittihad interest despite West Ham’s refusal to entertain offers as they were not going to let him leave the London Stadium halfway through the season.
With the defence highlighted as a particular area of investment for the Hammers this summer, Aguerd’s exit could free up both space in the squad and funds to reinvest with a potential clearout on the cards.
