West Ham United transfer news as Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto wanted at London Stadium

West Ham United are interested in signing Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto this month, according to Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport journalist, reporting for Sport Lens (8 January) shared that the Hammers and Fulham both have an eye on the Whites forward with a view to a possible move.

West Ham are set to make contact soon to see if Leeds United’s stance on Gnonto has changed after they refused to sell him during the summer window following his transfer request.

Attacker needed

This is an absolutely no-brainer as West Ham are looking to bring more forwards in to strengthen David Moyes’s attacking options this summer.

There are several clubs interested in the Italian after he earned several plaudits for his performances in the Premier League last season, where he scored two goals and laid on four assists in 24 appearances.

It hasn’t gone to plan for the little Italian so far this season, making just seven Championship starts from 20 appearances and scoring just one goal and registering one assist.

His attitude has been called into question on numerous occasions at Elland Road but that is certainly down to his desperate wish to play Premier League football again.

West Ham United are in desperate need of attacking quality this month and could well be set to lose either of Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, and Maxwel Cornet this month which leaves plenty of room for Gnonto to be snapped up.

However, much of that depends on Leeds United’s stance this month and whether they are willing to see him go right now.
