West Ham United transfer news as hierarchy want to see Manchester City offer for Declan Rice
Arsenal have hit a setback in their pursuit of West Ham captain Declan Rice with the selling club’s hierarchy now reportedly keen to see what Manchester City have to offer.
According to the Express (15 June), West Ham would now like to wait and hear Manchester City’s offer before making any final decisions over the future of Rice.
The captain is one of the club’s greatest-ever players and it is important that they seal the best possible financial package for their star man.
The news comes following developments this morning that Arsenal’s club-record opening has been rejected by West Ham.
Rice is expected to leave the club this summer after David Sullivan detailed a gentleman’s agreement between the player and the club.

If you’re Rice, you are most likely sitting with your feet up and enjoying this transfer saga. The player has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United and now Manchester City. Not a bad selection of clubs.
With Arsenal seemingly the favourites to land the 24-year-old, having been the only club to yet offer an official proposal, the news that West Ham might be willing to hear an offer from Manchester City surely cannot upset the club captain.
A move to the Premier League and European champions, some may argue, would be better for his career, despite being settled in London. At City, he is essentially guaranteed trophies, with no same guarantee on offer at Arsenal.
Either way, it looks like Rice will be at a Champions League club competing for major honours next season whatever happens, however, the English international will most likely want to have his future clarified sooner rather than later.
