West Ham United transfer news as frontrunners emerge in summer race for Juan Miranda

West Ham United is the most likely destination for Juan Miranda this summer if he heads to the Premier League, according to GiveMeSport.

The outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (11 June) that the Real Betis left-back is a target for several English sides, including the Hammers, Wolves and Crystal Palace following the expiry of his contract in Spain.

Both AC Milan and Porto will provide competition for his signature from abroad, with the Italian giants reaffirming their interest in the Spanish international having nearly secured his services in the January window.

However, the offer of regular playing time at the London Stadium could tempt Miranda into making the switch to East London as a free agent.

Will West Ham United sign Real Betis defender Juan Miranda in the summer transfer window?

Julen Lopetegui is wasting no time making wholesale changes to his squad before pre-season has even begun at the London Stadium and it appears as though new additions all over the pitch cannot be ruled out.

Left-back isn’t the most pressing issue for the former Real Madrid manager to address as he already has both Emerson and Aaron Cresswell to call upon in that position, but further strength in depth wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Miranda has always impressed during his time in Betis and with no transfer fee needed to secure his services, the only question will be whether he views the Hammers as a better opportunity than a move to Milan to play in the Champions League.

Lopetegui and Tim Steidten may have to sell their project to the defender this summer to try and convince him the Premier League is where he belongs. It is at least positive that they appear to be ahead of their English rivals.

This will be one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
