West Ham United transfer news as Fenerbahce enter race for Said Benrahma, decision to be made within a week

Fenerbahce have joined the race to sign exit-linked West Ham winger Said Benrahma, according to Takvim.

The Turkish outlet reported on Wednesday (27 December) that Fener, who are leading the way in the Turkish Super Lig, are looking into the possibility of a loan with a purchase option in January.

However, they add that Ligue 1 side Lyon are still in the hunt for the former Brentford winger, who has found himself on the periphery of the first team at the London Stadium this season.

Takvim added in its report that Benrahma is due to make a decision on his future within a week.

Decisions, decisions…

It looks increasingly likely that Benrahma will be on his way out of the London Stadium in January, the more pertinent question now appears to be where will he end up by the end of the window?

Benrahma has reportedly demanded to leave according to fichajes.net and frankly keeping a player who is not playing and is unhappy would be a decision that could actually be of detriment to the squad.

There is no doubt that Benrahma can be a talented player on his day and David Moyes will not want to lose too many players given the Hammers’ Europa League commitments in the New Year.

But Benrahma is clearly not the flavour of the month and it looks as though he has at least two choices in Lyon or Fenerbahce. It will now come down to the player and whether a deal can be put together that suits West Ham. Let’s see what happens in the coming days.
