West Ham United transfer news as eight players named that can leave this summer
As many as eight West Ham players could be sold this summer with Angelo Ogbonna and Ben Johnson already leaving, according to the Athletic.
The media outlet reported on 17 May that the other players on their way out could be Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta, who Manchester City will explore signing over the next few weeks.
The other four players open to leaving are Thilo Kehrer, Said Benrahma, Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes.
West Ham set for a summer transfer overhaul in the coming weeks
The Hammers may be compelled to let Paqueta go despite their desire to retain him due to the potential financial and competitive benefits that a transfer could bring and the fact that he has ambitions to play for a title-winning side.
The Brazilian is a highly talented and versatile player who has been a key figure for West Ham since his arrival and it’s no surprise that Manchester City want him.
On the other hand, Kudus must be retained at all costs.
The Ghanaian has shown tremendous potential and has been a standout performer since joining the club.
His goal-scoring ability, creativity and versatility make him a valuable asset to the team and Tim Steidten is unlikely to let him leave just like that after going the extra yard to sign him.
As for the likes of Kehrer, Benrahma, Aguerd and Downes, their potential departures could generate additional funds for the club to reinvest in the squad.

These players have not been as consistently impactful as Kudus and Paqueta, and their sales could help the club strengthen other areas of the team.
In other West Ham news, the wife of a Hammers player has potentially stirred up a controversy with her recent comments on social media accusing the club of bias.
