West Ham United transfer news as Al-Ittihad stance on summer ‘escape’ for Jota emerges

West Ham United could offer Jota an “escape” from the Saudi Pro League during the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (7 June) that Al-Ittihad are open to letting the Portuguese winger leave this summer for the right price as he has struggled to make an impact in the Middle East.

Premier League clubs are understood to remain interested in signing the former Celtic star after both the Hammers under David Moyes and London rivals Tottenham considered a move last summer.

Sources are confident that Al-Ittihad will sanction a move to let Jota leave this summer and should he not move to England, he will likely end up playing for a team in the Champions League in Europe.

Will Julen Lopetegui and West Ham United sign former Celtic star Jota in the transfer window?

Julen Lopetegui has wasted no time getting to work in the summer transfer window at the London Stadium as the former Real Madrid manager begins putting his own stamp on the squad ahead of pre-season.

While the Irons have already been linked with a number of new players, it has been suggested that the Spaniard’s priority is to add a new wide-forward option to his squad whilst also strengthening the backline.

Jota would certainly add a different dimension to West Ham’s wings as the Portuguese winger is known as an incredibly gifted winger. Alongside Mohammed Kudus he could pose a serious threat in the Premier League.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Hammers will be able to match Al-Ittihad’s price tag this summer or whether Jota would even be keen on a move to the London Stadium. So much could come down to who else expresses an interest.

Hopefully, West Ham will get their man if they are genuinely keen on securing his services this summer.
