West Ham United transfer news as £40m update emerges in race for Brentford ace Ivan Toney
West Ham United transfer target Ivan Toney will be available for between £30-£40million during the summer transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via X (10 April) that the Hammers have already enquired about the Brentford striker’s availability ahead of the summer, but the deal “is not hot” at this current moment in time.
David Moyes’ side aren’t the only team interested in securing the England international’s signature as Chelsea and Arsenal are understood to be monitoring him closely alongside a number of other Premier League clubs.
While nothing has been decided yet, there is a general feeling that Toney could leave Thomas Frank’s side come the end of the season.

West Ham have needed a new centre-forward for the last few years at the London Stadium and it is fair to say that Toney fits the bill as a perfect and more complete replacement for the ageing Michail Antonio.
The England international’s physicality partnered with his excellent technical ability makes him the perfect centre-forward to slot into the Hammers’ frontline if Moyes’ side can find a way to get a deal over the line.
A fee up to £40million is by no means extortionate for a player of Toney’s quality and having sold Declan Rice in the summer, the Irons should be able to match that figure without risking any potential financial fair play breaches.
The only question mark will be whether the Hammers can beat both Chelsea and Arsenal to the 29-year-old’s signature given their financial muscle and potential pulling power as two of England’s biggest teams.
Hopefully, Tim Steidten will be able to work his magic and find a way to get this deal over the line as it would be a massive boost to the Irons and could finally solve their problems in the final third.
