West Ham United transfer news as £35m Armando Broja update drops in January
West Ham are by far the likeliest suitors to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja as the club are traditionally big spenders in the transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The football news outlet assessed which Premier League clubs would be in line to do a deal for Broja, after declaring that Chelsea’s asking price for the striker was too high for his profile, writing off 13 of the 20 clubs immediately.
That asking price, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs [22 January], is set at a minimum of £35million, as he shared that Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for the striker this week.
A brilliant option in a key position
While some may turn their noses up at Broja, particularly for the price tags that have been mentioned in connection with a possible transfer deal, he represents a brilliant option in a position where the Hammers are desperate for reinforcements this month.
The likes of Victor Boniface and Santiago Gimenez who have been linked in the last month would, of course, be more exciting and high-profile additions, but Broja has the attributes to become a top striker under the guidance of David Moyes.
He is naturally tall and physical, which Moyes wants in his strikers, and his instinctual finish both from close range and outside of the box is that of a typical number nine in the Premier League.

A £35million fee may be steep, especially with the Hammers reportedly needing to sell to buy in this window, but he represents a strong option to fill the void up top at the London Stadium, and with West Ham the most likely team to get it done, this could be one to watch.
