West Ham United transfer for Carlos Borges at final stages from Manchester City
West Ham are at the final stages of their deal to sign exciting young winger Carlos Borges from Manchester City, according to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano.
Romano shared via his personal Twitter account on 24 July that West Ham are working hard to get the deal for Borges completed this week, with a fee set at around £14million, while Manchester City will keep a buy-back clause in the player’s contract.
Borges was first liked with a move to the East London club last week and the deal has progressed quickly with West Ham pushing hard for it.
The Manchester City academy star scored 21 goals and bagged 11 assists from 24 games in the Premier League 2 last season, and would provide a direct option on the wing for West Ham.
Get this one over the line
West Ham’s haste in completing this deal is a sign of just how good of a player they are getting. Highly regarded at Manchester City, Borges is yet to play a senior game, but a fee of £14million to get him out of Manchester shows what trust is being put in his ability.
Borges would become the latest player to depart Manchester City’s academy after Romeo Lavia, Gavin Bazunu, Shea Charles and Samuel Edozie, all moved to Southampton in the last year, while James Trafford has signed for Burnley and Darko Gyabi moved to Leeds.

If Borges can perform to the level at West Ham as he did in academy football, the Hammers will have a brilliant player on their hands, with strong resale value should anybody else want to pry him away from the London Stadium eventually.
A similar situation occurred with Lavia, as he signed for Southampton before strong performances quickly had him linked with moves to England’s top clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.
In other West Ham news, an update has emerged in the club’s pursuit of Declan Rice replacement.
