West Ham United transfer details emerge as Wolves prepare for third Max Kilman bid

West Ham will not offer a player in a third bid for Wolves defender Max Kilman, according to The Guardian.

Fabrizio Romano reported [25 June] that the Hammers had included a player in an offer for Wolves’ captain, which was rejected, but it appears the club will not make the same decision with their third bid.

It is understood that, while the Midlands club are under no pressure to sell, they may find it difficult to turn down an offer of £45million if the Hammers were to meet that value.

West Ham United to switch up transfer offer for Max Kilman

The Irons have so far seen a £30million plus add-ons offer and a player-plus-cash deal rejected by Wolves for their 27-year-old centre-back this summer.

Julen Lopetegui has made defensive additions a priority in the summer transfer window, with the club having already lost out on Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno earlier this month.

With Angelo Ogbonna’s exit confirmed, Lopetegui is left with just Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd, with the latter being linked with a move away from the London Stadium.

The new manager could be without any depth in the centre-back position once the 2024/25 campaign rolls around, so it is vital that the club confirm one defensive signing very soon.

Though Kilman’s price tag has raised some eyebrows, the 27-year-old has become a regular at Molineux Stadium since arriving from Maidenhead United in 2018.

He has since gone on to make 151 appearances and has been awarded the captain’s armband for his displays and signs of leadership, which could be a vital factor in his move to London.

The Hammers really seemed to lack a voice last season under David Moyes, with only Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United conceding more goals in the Premier League.

For a team finishing in the top half of the table, that is inexcusable, and the hope would be that the addition of Kilman can begin to address those problems in the back line.
