West Ham United, Tottenham and Arsenal monitoring PSG star Ousmane Dembele for January loan move

West Ham United could face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham as they monitor the situation of Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported online (23 September) that PSG could be willing to let the 26-year-old leave on loan after his £50million summer move from Barcelona.

Dembele featured in PSG’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (19 September), but is yet to establish himself as a mainstay in the French capital.

Sign of the times

While a move to Champions League Arsenal would probably be the Frenchman’s preferred destination, West Ham is certainly an exciting club at the moment.

While flying high in the Premier League and the Europa League right now, a successful move for the World Cup winner would certainly depend on where the Hammers find themselves after Christmas.

If they progress past the European group stages, which on paper they look like they will, and remain in the top half of the Premier League, then Stratford may not be a bad swap for Paris.

He would certainly have an impact on the side, something which can’t be said of a move to either North London club, and his stats look very convincing.

West Ham United

Per FBRef, the former Dortmund man averages 7.55 progressive passes per 90 (99th percentile), 3.38 successful take-ons (96th percentile) and 5.33 shot-creating actions (94th percentile). Despite not playing a minute of Premier League football in his career, he is the level of player who could certainly have an impact in the English top flight.

He has had a slow start to the season following his move from La Liga and has yet to net in Ligue 1 this season despite three starts. Injury issues may return too, but depending on the length of the loan, the Hammers will feel confident that he could stay healthy.

A successful move for Dembele would truly be a sign of the times and reflect West Ham’s new-found status as a European side, and the potential impact he could have for David Moyes’ side is exciting.
