West Ham United to strike Nayef Aguerd exit deal before midnight

West Ham and Real Sociedad could strike an agreement over a deal for Nayef Aguerd on the “verge of midnight”, according to El Diario Vasco.

The Spanish source reported [30 August] that the two clubs are in talks over a loan deal with no obligation to buy for the 28-year-old centre-back.

It is understood that, while the transfer window slams shut at 11 pm on Friday 30 August for both the UK and Spain, clubs can submit deal sheets before the deadline so that a deal can be completed later.

With the defender keen on a move to La Liga, as per Santi Aouna, it seems like a no-brainer for the Hammers to get him off the books before the chance is gone this summer.

The centre-back has been absent from the starting XI for Julen Lopetegui’s first two Premier League fixtures, with Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos given the nod instead.

Jean-Clair Todibo is also finding his feet after the move to England, leaving Aguerd with plenty of competition after being one of the main men under David Moyes last term.

It seems clear that the Moroccan international now sees his future elsewhere than the London Stadium, which is certainly a shame given his talents, but Lopetegui will only want players who want to fight for a spot.

The Spaniard has put his own spin on the squad at the London Stadium, adding multiple new faces during the summer transfer window, and Aguerd looks set to seal an exit before the transfer window slams shut.

He also has several academy stars to call upon if injury tragedy strikes during the season, with fans wanting to see many of their prospects given an opportunity.
