West Ham United to sell Nayef Aguerd with Tim Steidten in transfer talks with multiple clubs

West Ham are in talks with a number of clubs over the sale of Nayef Aguerd before the transfer window shuts, according to TBR Football.

The outlet reported on their website (13 August) that Tim Steidten is speaking to multiple potential buyers to offload the Moroccan centre-back.

The Irons are also trying to move Kurt Zouma off the wage bill but his exit to Shabab Al-Ahli has collapsed due to a failed medical [The Times, 12 August].

Aguerd, 28, arrived two seasons ago but is said to want to leave this summer [Times, 28 May], with TEAMtalk reporting on 20 July that the Hammers are looking to recoup the £30million they paid for him.

Kurt Zouma also in line to leave West Ham

A change at manager was always going to see an overhaul of the squad, especially at the back where the defence became a surprise weakness in David Moyes’ final season in charge.

Steidten went out and got Julen Lopetegui’s former Wolves favourite Max Kilman and then hijacked Juventus’ deal for Jean-Clair Todibo so there should be a new starting partnership at the London Stadium this term.

The German has successfully restocked most areas of the squad this summer but it hasn’t come cheap and Aguerd could be a prime candidate to bring in a transfer fee.

Zouma and high-earning striker Danny Ings [talkSPORT, 13 August] are both more likely to leave for nothing just to ease the wage bill.

But if multiple clubs are now in discussions with Steidten over a deal for Aguerd then it might boost the chances of getting a substantial fee, even if it might be fanciful for the club to make their money back on him.
