West Ham United to open talks over signing ‘exciting’ Brazilian Wesley Gassova
West Ham are set to open talks in an attempt to sign Corinthians star Wesley Gassova, according to The Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper reported on page 71 of its print edition on 21 April that the 19-year-old has a contract with the Brazilian side until December 2027.
It added that the “exciting” Brazilian winger has played almost 60 times for the Sao Paulo-based club since making his debut two years ago.
Would Wesley Gassova be worthwhile signing for West Ham?
It’s often hard to know with young South American talents how they would fare in the Premier League, but they are often worth a gamble.
It’s great to see West Ham are finally starting to think a bit more outside of the box regarding transfers, with technical director Tim Steidten likely to be the one who’s identified Wesley as a potential target.
The winger, who only turned 19 last month, has scored four goals and laid on three assists in 56 appearances for Corinthians.

While those numbers may not exactly excite the Hammers fans, he is still extremely young and would be one for the future as we look to identify emerging talents.
If the transfer fee involved is reasonable, then the Brazilian could certainly be worth a punt due to the potential rewards that could be on offer if he hits it off at the London Stadium.
