West Ham United to make Wes Foderingham announcement after transfer news

West Ham United are set to announce the arrival of Wes Foderingham, according to The Athletic.

It was reported via the news outlet on Tuesday (25 June) that the Hammers will announce the signing of the goalkeeper later this week.

Foderingham has agreed a two-year contract at the London Stadium on a free transfer.

He is currently undergoing his medical with an official announcement to follow.

This isn’t a signing which is going to capture the imagination of many at the London Stadium.

Foderingham will probably hardly have a kick of the ball during his two-year stay in East London. However, it is still an important bit of transfer business nonetheless.

As the Julen Lopetegui era gets underway the club needs to prepare a squad which is ready to compete.

And while Foderingham will likely arrive as the third-choice shot-stopper for the club, he is a pretty high-quality third-choice shot-stopper.

The 33-year-old played an entire season of first-team football for Sheffield United in the Premier League last season.

And while he did concede a lot of goals, he didn’t exactly have the most inspiring back-four playing in front of him.

Lopetegui will rest assured in the knowledge that should the club experience something of an injury crisis between the sticks, he has three very reliable options to call upon.

In other West Ham news, the club are keen to sign a Premier League striker available for £10million-plus.
