West Ham United to make Jesse Lingard decision as PL deadline looms, Saudi offers tabled
West Ham are set to make a decision on whether or not to sign free agent Jesse Lingard within the next eight days, according to Sean Whetstone.
The 6foot2 editor tweeted on 5 September that the Hammers must submit their squad to the Premier League on 13 September as the England international continues to train with the club.
He said they must, therefore, make a decision on the 30-year-old midfielder, who has been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian sides as their transfer window closes on 7 September.
Unpredictable
As has been seen previously, you can never really predict where Lingard’s head is at or which club he will end up signing for in the coming days.
The midfielder has been training with West Ham for the past few weeks, but he has proven before that he doesn’t really have much loyalty for the East Londoners.
After his exceptional loan spell at the London Stadium in 2021, where he scored nine goals in 16 appearances, he turned the Irons down to remain at Manchester United and barely got a sniff at Old Trafford during that season.
The following summer Lingard almost made the move again to East London, but he decided to join Nottingham Forest after more money was offered to him.

Even though the club have kindly offered to let the midfielder train with us in recent weeks and a deal is expected to be offered to him, there is nothing to say that he won’t sign for one of the Saudi sides in the coming days.
He won’t be able to play for us in the Europa League as UEFA’s deadline for squad registrations was on 4 September, but with eight days left before the Premier League expects squad lists to be submitted, we will have to make a decision soon.
In other West Ham news, Karren Brady has shared why one player was sold during the summer window.
