West Ham United to make brand new behind-the-scenes appointment, he will join in February
West Ham are set to announce the appointment of Maximilian Hahn from Werder Bremen, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reported on its live transfer tracker on Sunday (21 January) that the 28-year-old will join the Hammers as head of technical scouting and analysis.
It added that he was previously the Bundesliga club’s coordinator in scouting and data analysis, with him officially starting his new role at the London Stadium in February.
Positive
It’s positive news to hear that West Ham are making efforts to improve the scouting department behind the scenes with Hahn’s appointment.
He will look to add youthfulness and fresh ideas to the Hammers scouting network after the recruitment has been a bit hit and miss over a number of years.
With the financial fair play rules putting pressure on clubs to monitor their spending, it’s important that just about every transfer turns out to be a success.
That is why new methods to find some relatively unknown or under appreciated talents is becoming more popular and, hopefully, it will help us compete with some of the clubs that have already stolen a march in that space.
With Hahn joining next month, that will give him a few months to get properly embedded behind the scenes ahead of the summer transfer window.
