West Ham United to make Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer call amid Manchester United exit update

West Ham United could bide their time over a deal for Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported on Friday (19 July) that the Hammers do have a strong interest in the Red Devils right back, the Irons could wait until the end of the transfer window to strike a better deal.

United value Wan-Bissaka in the region of £15million, but with only a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, their asking price could be reduced in the final days of the transfer window if they fear he could leave as a free agent.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Sheth said: “There is strong interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United and again West Ham are deciding whether they’re going to turn that interest into a more formal bid.

“We think United’s valuation for a player that they bought for around £50million is around £15million-plus.

“Now the interesting thing with both of these players is that they’ve entered the final years of their contracts so it wouldn’t surprise me if West Ham United bided their time a little bit.

“Because if neither of these players are going to sign a new contract, the later you go in the window maybe the better deal you could get because the threat remains that the players could see out the rest of their contract and those clubs could lose the players for free.”

Will West Ham United sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid Manchester United exit speculation?

While a new right-back will be reasonably high on West Ham’s agenda this summer, it is not a necessity in the early stages of the window, especially while Vladimir Coufal remains an option for Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers don’t need to immediately match Manchester United’s demands to try and get this deal over the line as quickly as possible and therefore can wait until the end of the window to try and strike a better deal.

£15million isn’t a lot of money for a player of the Englishman’s quality, but it is a big fee when you consider the fact he will be worth nothing in just a matter of months’ time. Perhaps a £10million or £12million valuation would be more reasonable.

Hopefully, the Hammers will be able to agree on a fee that suits all parties before another club swoops in and secures the defender’s signature. It is hard to argue that Wan-Bissaka would not strengthen Lopetegui’s starting XI.
