West Ham United to hold fresh talks in days over Nayef Aguerd sale amid £30m price tag
West Ham United have held positive talks with the Saudi PIF about a transfer for Nayef Aguerd, according to TEAMtalk.
Writing on their website (20 July), the news outlet report that the two parties have already held talks about a potential £30million deal for the central defender, with personal terms and conditions for a transfer discussed.
And talks are set to continue in days, with more talks planned between the Hammers and Saudi PIF for early next week.
West Ham to force Nayef Aguerd bidding war?
The best thing for any team interested in selling a player at the moment is that there is interest from several parties, including Saudi Arabia.
The PIF haven’t been afraid to splash the cash in recent transfer windows and with the Hammers hopeful of recouping the £30m they spent to sign him from Rennes two summers ago, it’s a good thing that there is a lot of interest.
Lille want to sign the Morocco star to replace Leny Yoro [L’Equipe, 20 July], while there is also interest from Marseille in Ligue 1 among other sides [Hakim Zhouri, 11 May].
After signing Max Kilman from Wolves and also moving for Jean-Clair Todibo and other defensive targets, it’s clear that Julen Lopetegui is open to seeing the 27-year-old move on.
Now it’s on Tim Steidten and the board to encourage clubs to go against each other to sign him, and hopefully drive the price up in the process.
In other West Ham news, the club are set to make a new £33m bid “quickly” for one star after an initial £25m bid was turned down.
