West Ham United to capitalise on Sevilla woes as Lucas Ocampos move made
Sevilla may be looking to sell forward Lucas Ocampos with West Ham United ready to capitalise, according to Diario ABC.
Writing on their website [29 August], the Spanish news outlet reported that Sevilla will need to raise funds to comply with salary limits imposed by LaLiga.
The Hammers are reportedly exploring the conditions of a potential £5million deal for the 30-year-old, with contact having already been made with the Spanish side.
Will West Ham United sign Lucas Ocampos?
A potential move for Ocampos for West Ham has just taken a fresh twist with the reports emerging from Spain.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier on Thursday [29 August] that the Irons are not working on a deal for the Argentine international.
Given the signings of Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme, alongside the current options Julen Lopetegui has at his disposal in Mohammed Kudus, Jarrad Bowen and Lucas Paqueta, it is hard to envision a place for Ocampos in the first team.
However, the 30-year-old has a wealth of Champions League and Europa League experience and, at the small fee of £5m, it could be an opportunistic signing to bolster the already brimming attacking options at the club.

Options on the wings are the least of Lopetegui’s concerns ahead of the 30 August deadline, and all sights for a final addition in East London are firmly set on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler [Florian Plettenberg].
The report from Diario seems a desperate attempt from Sevilla to drum up interest in a wantaway player as they seek to raise funds before the transfer deadline.
Traditionally, there is no smoke without fire but in this case, it’s safe to pour water on any potential deal to bring Ocampos to West Ham.
