West Ham United timeline emerges for Angel Gomes transfer
West Ham United could make a move for Angel Gomes in the summer transfer window rather than before the 3 February winter deadline, according to Sean Whetstone.
The West Ham insider reported via his personal X account (28 January) that the Hammers will ‘not’ be going for the former Manchester United man before the start of next season.
Gomes has been linked with several clubs in winter with the Englishman’s contract set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
West Ham United are smart to wait for the transfer of Angel Gomes
Although Gomes would no doubt be a quality addition to Graham Potter’s squad, the one place they seemed to be fairly stacked in at the moment is that of attacking midfield.
While Lucas Pauqeta might be playing in a more advanced role at the moment with Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio both out injured, the Hammers still have Carlos Soler among their ranks who can do a more than solid job for the second half of the season.
And, with the way that Potter has been lining up his team over the last few weeks, their need for an attack-minded midfielder isn’t quite yet clear.

It’s evident that reinforcement is needed in areas such as centre-back and striker which is why the addition of Gomes shouldn’t be on top of their priority list, for the moment at least.
Only time will tell whether Potter chooses to go for the player who was once called “quality” by Roy Keane [Daily Mail] but if he does, it’ll certainly be an impressive coup.
In other West Ham news, Daniel Levy is in talks for Tottenham to blow the Hammers out of the water for this player.
