West Ham United talks for Aaron Wan-Bissaka continue as ‘something missing’ verdict shared

West Ham are keen to negotiate a much lower fee than the £15million Manchester United want for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to TEAMtalk.

The online news outlet reported (1 August) that a source told journalist Rudy Galletti that there is “something missing” as the sides look to reach an agreement but the deal is at the final stages.

Manchester United reportedly value Wan-Bissaka at £15m, but the Irons do not want to shell out such an amount for the right-back, who has just 12 months left to run on his Old Trafford contract.

Wan-Bisska himself is reportedly keen on a switch to the London Stadium [TEAMtalk, 31 July], with this weekend’s “showdown” talks expected to see the two clubs reach a compromise over the impending transfer.

West Ham transfer stance on Aaron Wan-Bissaka hardly surprising

Given that both the Irons and Manchester United have both explored deals for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui – and for more than the latter are asking for Wan-Bissaka – Julen Lopetegui’s side are well within their rights to baulk at a £15m valuation for the 26-year-old.

The Hammers had reportedly agreed an initial fee of around £13m for Mazraoui before contract talks fell through [Florian Plettenberg, 26 July], thus potentially paying more for their second-choice target would not be the most shrewd business on their part.

Therefore, with Lopetegui set to make clear that the Hammers won’t pay the Red Devils’ £15m asking price for Wan-Bissaka, their Manchester namesakes could be put into a bind as they chase a deal of their own for Mazraoui.

Erik ten Tag’s side reportedly can’t pursue a deal for the Bayern right-back before selling Wan-Bissaka, and thus should the Irons hold firm on their own stance, they may hold the key to both transfers being completed.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have made a ‘lucrative’ contract offer on top of a £21million bid for a new striker this summer.
