West Ham United table offer for Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior

West Ham want to sign Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior and have tabled an offer for the England youth international, according to Il Bianconero.

Writing on their official website (25 July), the Italian news outlet report that three Premier League clubs have made concrete proposals and the Hammers are one of them.

Juventus are said to want £17m for the young winger, and West Ham have previously been linked with making a bid worth up to £25.7m to get a deal done.

“Here, Juventus is evaluating the possibility of continuing with the transfer market, and two players who could become expendable are certainly Samuel Iling Junior and Andrea Cambiaso,” they wrote.

“The price of both is very similar – the two are valued at around 20 million, the English slightly more – just as the role they play in Alelgri’s ideas is similar: they are currently the Kostic deputies, so one of the two is too many.

“For Samuel Iling Junior there would be potential offers from the Premier League, where in particular West Ham, Fulham and Everton have concretely come forward with polls.

“The goal was to evaluate the feasibility of the sale, perhaps on loan, perhaps with the right to buy. Juve, for now, has returned everything to the sender: if the offers meet the requests of Juventus and the player himself, there could be a real possibility that Iling Junior will be taken into consideration for next season.”

Talent

After missing out on the signing of Harvey Barnes to Newcastle this summer, the hunt is still on for a winger to add to the attacking quality in the squad.

Carlos Borges is said to be close to joining the club from Manchester City, but that may not be the end of the arrivals in that position if this report turns out to be accurate.

Iling-Junior is the youngest player to have started a Champions League game for Juventus, showing just how high his ceiling could be and bringing in a player of that calibre will only lift the floor of the talent in the squad.

But it won’t be an easy deal to do considering the competition for his signature, and it may be tough to convince both him and Borges that they can get first-team football next season if they’re both signed.

It’s certainly one to keep an eye on since a bid has already been made, and if it goes further it will show the intent of David Moyes and West Ham.
