West Ham United table new bid to seal ‘jewel’ Wesley transfer at London Stadium

West Ham have made an improved bid for Corinthians striker Wesley after their initial offer was rejected by the Brazilian club, according to ESPN.

The Hammers submitted an offer worth £12.80m to the Serie A side earlier this month but that was waved away quickly by the South Americans.

Now ESPN has reported a new bid worth up to £15.3million, including add-ons, with Corinthians executive, Fabinho Soldado still stating that “nothing concrete” has happened yet.

Writing for the outlet, Pedro Ivo Almeida described Wesley as the “jewel from Corinthians”.

Should West Ham sign Wesley?

There is no doubt that West Ham have struggled when signing strikers for many years with Michail Antonio always returning.

From Andy Carroll and Danny Ings to Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca there have been different options signed. None of which have truly worked.

Antonio is the Hammers’ all-time Premier League top scorer and is deserving of respect for that feat, but given that he only has six goals this season, a prolific striker is needed.

Wesley is a 19-year-old Brazilian option who is attracting plenty of interest after two years in the Corinthians first team.

At 19-years-old coming into the Premier League won’t prove to be easy for him but there have been success stories like his.

Gabriel Jesus is one, he signed for Manchester City from Palmerias and hit the ground running and won plenty of trophies.

At £15.3m, he would represent a good price for a promising youngster and could prove to be worth it in a few campaigns.
