West Ham United submit Yououff Fofana transfer offer as Monaco exit update emerges
West Ham United have submitted a £29.5million offer to sign Monaco midfielder Yousouff Fofana, according to L’Equipe.
The French outlet reported on its website on Sunday (28 July) that the Hammers have matched the Ligue 1 side’s asking price for the French international who has entered the final year of his contract.
AC Milan are also understood to be in the race for Fofana’s signature and are understood to have offered a fee in the region of £14.4million, but Monaco are waiting for a higher fee before sanctioning his exit.
The European giants have reached an agreement on personal terms with the French midfielder and there is a belief that he is moving closer towards the Monaco exit door.
Are West Ham United close to any new transfers this summer?
Julen Lopetegui has made no secret of his desire to rebuild this West Ham squad in his first summer in charge at the London Stadium, but it seems as though the Spaniard is going above and beyond to put his stamp on the team.
The Hammers have already spent plenty of money to bring the likes of Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and potentially even Jhon Duran [Fabrizio Romano, 25 July] to East London and they have shown no signs of stopping there.
For most fans, midfield wouldn’t be a priority to strengthen this summer because players like Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek impressed last term, but Fofana is an exciting talent and would add a different dimension to Lopetegui’s ranks.

At the moment, it seems as though the Irons are the only club to have actually met Monaco’s asking price and that could stand them in good stead when it comes to winning the race for his signature.
However, West Ham have to hope the midfielder doesn’t have his heart set on a move to Italy. If he does, they could struggle to agree on personal terms and another deal could fall by the wayside.
