West Ham United submit second bid with add-ons to sign Wesley Gassova as £13m transfer news emerges

West Ham have gone back with a new offer for Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported in its print edition (5 May, pg 64) that the Hammers were knocked back in their first £13million bid.

However, they added that West Ham are leading the race for the 19-year-old and have gone back with an offer that includes various add-ons to “sweeten the deal”.

The move for Wesley is reportedly being led by technical director Tim Steidten, who the Mirror say is “well connected” in Brazil.

Will West Ham sign Brazilian gem Wesley Gassova?

It was first reported by the Mirror back on 21 April that the Hammers were in talks over a deal to bring the teenager to the London Stadium on a deal until June 2027 and they are seemingly ramping up their efforts.

While he may be a relative unknown to Hammers supporters at this moment in time, it is exciting to see the club exploring the South American markets and trying to sign players with potential like Wesley.

It is telling that Steidten is driving this deal too, and the reports a growing disconnect between the technical director and boss David Moyes have only grown in recent days amid reports the former has been banned from the dressing room.

With reports that Julen Lopetegui is close to agreeing a deal to take over from Moyes at the end of the season, it might be that West Ham see more and more of Steidten’s targets arriving at the club this summer, which could include Wesley.
