West Ham United star Gianluca Scamacca likes image of Jose Mourinho, Roma boss wants to sign him

West Ham ace Gianluca Scamacca has liked an image of Jose Mourinho on social media amid links to Roma this summer.

The Serie A club’s boss is hoping to sign the forward, with the 24-year-old admitting in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport on 12 July that it would be his “dream” to play under the Portuguese at his boyhood club.

Following a backlash from Hammers fans over Scamacca’s admission, the Italy international hasn’t moved to tone down his admiration for Mourinho after liking a picture of the 60-year-old that was tweeted by the official Serie A account on 19 July with the caption “Special one”.

Longing for move

It’s quite clear to see that Scamacca is a huge fan of Mourinho and would relish the chance to work under him at Roma – a club he supported growing up and played for during his youth career.

The forward said in his interview with Gazzetta that Roma is his “home” and that it would be a “dream scenario” to play under the Portuguese, who he is sure he would “improve a lot under” if he were to make the move to the Italian capital.

While he has looked good in the Hammers’ opening three pre-season matches, where he’s scored two goals, it does appear as though his heart is very much set on a move back to his city of birth this summer.

Scamacca liking a humorous photo of Mourinho is maybe just a harmless act, but you don’t see him liking pictures of current boss David Moyes – someone he doesn’t appear to have had a great relationship with since joining the club for £35million from Sassuolo last year.

This is a saga that is continuing to rumble on, but if the forward really does want to leave, then it’s best to move him on and sign someone that does genuinely want to be at the club.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers reportedly stand a “good chance” of signing a Bayern Munich-linked midfielder.
