West Ham United: Source shares Ivan Toney transfer update at London Stadium

West Ham are prepared to fight Tottenham and Chelsea in a bid to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported via its website on 19 March that one source had shared that the Hammers believe Toney would be a statement signing to take them to the next level.

It has been said they are crying out for a new striker who can help them become a Champions League challenger despite interest from their London rivals.

Could West Ham sign Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer?

The Hammers have been desperate to sign a new forward since Gianluca Scamacca left the club last summer, which meant David Moyes had only Michail Antonio and Danny Ings to select from when choosing who to lead the line.

A striker was also reportedly their main target in January, with Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface linked with a £50million move, and if that is anything to go by, it appears the Hammers have plenty of funds to spend on a forward.

Toney has scored four goals in ten games since returning to action, having missed the first half of the season due to a ban from football for breaking the FA’s betting rules, and scored 20 in 33 games last time out.

Lucas Paqueta, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium this summer, having been touted for a £100million move, which could raise the money to spend big on bringing Toney to East London.
