West Ham United source shares brand new Paul Pogba transfer update

West Ham United are unlikely to sign Paul Pogba despite being linked with a move for the midfielder, according to West Ham Football.

The Irons are reportedly tempted to make an offer for the French superstar [TuttoJuve], but the insider reported via X on 22 November that their chances of signing him are “slim to none”.

Pogba is also demanding a salary in excess of £160,000-a-week, while also wanting a multi-million-pound signing bonus, with his agents also requiring a cut.

West Ham United must stay clear of Paul Pogba

Pogba can resume playing in March 2025 after having his doping ban reduced from four years to 18 months [BBC]. He is also set to be available on a free transfer, having agreed to terminate his contract with Juventus, effective from 30 November.

The temptation is, therefore, understandable, but the East London outfit must stay away from the former Manchester United star.

Not only are his demands excessive for Julen Lopetegui’s side, but he is also a figure they do not need in the locker room at the moment, especially as they have enough problems of their own.

While Tim Steidten could take a risk by luring Pogba to the London Stadium, that could eventually signal the end of his stint at the club.

Lopetegui currently has the likes of Edson Alvarez, Guido Rodriguez and Tomas Soucek as his options in midfield and a 31-year-old Pogba is probably the last player he needs in the position.

The news that the Hammers are unlikely to sign Pogba is, therefore, a relief.
