West Ham United sound out deal to sign Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma

West Ham United have sounded out a deal for ex-Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma, who is reportedly dreaming of a return to the Premier League, according to Marca.

Victor French reports on the Marca website (27 June) that the Hammers have joined a list of clubs interested in acquiring the services of the exciting Villareal forward.

The Hammers join Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle as clubs showing serious interest in the winger and continue to ponder on the transfer.

French said: “The player has already made it clear on more than one occasion that he dreams of returning to a competition like the Premier League.

“Danjuma is left with the thorn of not having triumphed in the Premier League during his time with Bournemouth and the yellow submarine would not be close to a possible sale.

“This would also help fund their main objective of this window, which is to secure the permanent signing of Giovanni Lo Celso.”

Danjuma is a pacey and versatile forward

If West Ham were to secure this deal, it would be a huge transfer for David Moyes and the club.

With the flailing form of Michail Antonio towards the latter stages of last season, the importance of Jarrod Bowen was highlighted.

His important goal contributions from the right wing were imperative in the Hammers securing European football and if they are to build on last season’s successes, they will need a similar output on the opposite winger.

Danjuma scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, more than Antonio and Said Benrahma and his goals would add a different dimension to the firepower the Hammers currently possess.

Also, Danjuma is also a very versatile forward as he played 10 games as a centre forward and eight games as a left winger last season.

This would make him a very useful and adaptable acquisition for David Moyes, who could deploy him in multiple positions along his frontline and lighten the weight of the goalscoring burden off the shoulders of Antonio, Bowen, Benrahma and others.
