West Ham United show concrete interest in New York City FC striker Taty Castellanos, available for £12.8m
West Ham have a “concrete interest” in New York City striker Taty Castellanos, who will be allowed to leave for £12.8m this summer according to Cesar Luis Merlo.
Castellanos has been shining in the MLS for several seasons and spent the 2022/23 season on loan at La Liga club Girona, scoring 14 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions.
But they are unable to sign him permanently and he is intent on leaving New York for Europe, with West Ham and Sevilla showing the most interest in a deal for the 24-year-old.

“Taty Castellanos will not continue at Girona since the club is not in a position to buy him,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (9 June).
“West Ham and Sevilla have already shown concrete interest.
“New York City is willing to sell and wants a flat [fee] of €15m (£12.8m) to get rid of [him].”
Striker
It seems quite clear that West Ham want another striker this summer, and that suggests someone will be leaving.
Gianluca Scamacca was signed as the number one man last summer but struggled in his debut campaign with injuries and trying to adapt, and he’s been linked with a return to Italy fairly regularly.

Michail Antonio was close to leaving in January but won his place in the team back after that and was key to helping the team avoid relegation and win the Europa Conference League, while Danny Ings only arrived in January but struggled to make an impact of any kind.
If Castellanos is to arrive it could be a shrewd signing for a relatively low fee, but it would mean the end of the road for one ace already at the club.
Most likely is Antonio, who will have just one year left on his deal and is the oldest, but he’s also been the best performing. Big questions to be answered, but West Ham are ready to move.
