West Ham United set for transfer boost as Said Benrahma news emerges
West Ham United are set to pocket a transfer windfall as Said Benrahma closes in on a move to Saudi Arabia, according to Footmercato.
The French news outlet reported on Saturday (25 January) that the 29-year-old’s representatives are nearing an agreement on terms with Neom SC ahead of a Lyon exit.
Benrahma turned down a move to Premier League rivals Everton in favour of returning to France, and now he could be on the move again.
Lyon signed the Algerian on Deadline Day in the last winter transfer window, and according to their official website, the Ligue 1 outfit agreed to a 10 percent sell-on clause with the Irons.
West Ham United will be active in the transfer market
There is certainly no love lost between West Ham and Benrahma.
It is a shame, but the Algerian will be forever etched into Hammers history after he confidently converted a penalty in the Europa Conference League-winning final against Fiorentina in 2023.
Fast forward a year and a half later, and the forward is plying his trade at Lyon, who famously has been provisionally relegated from Ligue 1 for financial mismanagement.
His impending move to Saudi Arabia will only benefit Graham Potter, who has tasked his recruitment team with signing a new defender, deep-lying midfielder, and striker before the window closes on 3 February [The Guardian].

Although the Hammers tried and failed with a £57million offer for Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran [David Ornstein], the lingering threat of PSR will dictate the transfer business conducted in East London.
Therefore, all the supporters can do is hope and pray the Saudi bid for Benrahma will see the Irons pocket a six-figure windfall from the deal.
It will certainly be a busy final few weeks at the London Stadium.
