West Ham United scout Sindre Walle Egeli amid Premier League transfer update

West Ham United have scouted Nordsjaelland rising star Sindre Walle Egeli ahead of a potential transfer, according to Graeme Bailey.

The journalist reported via HITC on Tuesday (10 September) that the Hammers alongside Premier League rivals Newcastle United have kept tabs on the 18-year-old already this season.

Brentford and Crystal Palace are also known to have watched the teenager while Brighton are believed to hold an interest in securing the attacker’s services in the future.

Egeli only recently put pen to paper on a new deal with Nordsjaelland to keep him at the club until the summer of 2028, but there is a belief that he is unlikely to still be playing in Norway by the time 2026 rolls around.

Are West Ham close to any new signings after transfer deadline day at the London Stadium?

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have spent an awful lot of money so far this summer bolstering their ranks, particularly in attack so it is a surprise to see them linked with another forward so soon after the transfer deadline.

The likes of Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug are yet to even get up and running in claret and blue so the links with Egeli do feel slightly premature so early in a new season.

However, with interest in the likes of Mohammed Kudus [Caught Offside, 28 June] and Jarrod Bowen over the last few months [Caught Offside, 25 May], West Ham will need succession plans in place in case either of their star attackers depart in January or even next summer.

Egeli has scored three goals and laid on a single assist in just four Superliagaen starts this season. While the standard of football is not comparable to the Premier League, that sort of record at only 18 years old is impressive.

Other Premier League clubs have had success when it comes to recruiting Norwegian players, particularly Manchester City with Erling Haaland and Arsenal with Martin Odegaard so it makes sense that the Irons would keep an eye on that market.

It would be a surprise to see this deal completed when January rolls around but it could be one to keep an eye on coming years.
