West Ham United: Said Benrahma sends message as Thilo Kehrer transfer announcement made at London Stadium

Said Benrahma has sent a five-word message to Thilo Kehrer after his confirmed exit from West Ham United on Friday 5 January.

The Hammers confirmed on Friday (5 January) that the 27-year-old German international has joined French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco on a six-month loan worth £431,000, which will include a mandatory clause to buy him for £9.5million (Fabrizio Romano, 4 January).

Kehrer made 12 appearances so far this season at the London Stadium with only four of them starts but was certainly a popular figure in the West Ham dressing room.

And Hammers attacker Benrahma who has also been linked with a move away (The Times, 3 January) shared his reaction on Instagram (5 January) to send his best wishes to the departing German.

He wrote: “All the best my bro.”

Could be joining him

It’s been a fun 18 months of having Kehrer at West Ham, but there is no doubt that this is the right time for all parties for this deal to happen.

Kehrer was a key part of the squad that won the Europa Conference League last season filling in cross the back four throughout the campaign, but this season he has struggled for any meaningful minutes.

The same can also be said of Benrahma who has been left frustrated by his lack of opportunities so far this season and there’s certainly a chance the Algerian could be joining Kehrer in the French Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old has also seen an opportunity missed in regard to the Algerian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations with the manager overlooking him for the competition later this month and that is certainly down to his limited role at West Ham.

West Ham United fans can rest assured knowing that Kehrer won’t be the only big London Stadium exit in the coming weeks.

In other West Ham United news, the Hammers have made a “100%” Moyes sack decision, with David Sullivan set to schedule a sit-down early this year.
