West Ham United remain in talks with Flamengo as new Lazaro bid is considered
West Ham are “evaluating” whether to make a new bid to sign versatile Flamengo attacker Lazaro, according to Raisa Simplicio.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers had a verbal proposal of £6million rejected for the youngster, and his suggestion that it will take between £10million and £12million is backed up by Simplicio who confirms the Brazilian side wants over £10million.
The two clubs remain in contact however, while the Irons consider whether to make a new offer to change the sellers’ minds for a player who has scored eight goals and laid on eight assists in various competitions during 2022.
Goal Brazil journalist Simplicio wrote on her personal Twitter account on Monday evening (22 August): “West Ham is still evaluating whether to make a new move by Lázaro, the parties are talking.
“Flamengo wants at least 10 M pounds”.
The club have already signed Maxwel Cornet who operates in a number of similar positions, and they also appear to be closing in on long-term attacking midfield target Hans Vanaken.

On paper Lazaro isn’t the priority in terms of position, but he is the kind of developing young option who could grow into a top player.
His versatility could be a bonus as the season wears on as well, if the Hammers do decide to go ahead with a new bid.
He clearly won’t cost a huge amount in the grand scheme of things, but the club have already spent heavily this summer and they will have to draw the line somewhere.

While the window is still open there is obviously going to be a temptation to thrown as many weapons into the squad as possible, amid a dreadful start to the season.
Not everything has been of the club’s own doing, with injuries and misfortune in games going against them, but key players have been nowhere near their brilliant best, and the atmosphere around the team is oddly off colour.
There’s plenty of time to get things together still, and perhaps once the window shuts the uncertainty over what the squad will look like should help.
Lazaro is an intriguing one, and if the club see him developing into something special then now would be the time to strike.
