West Ham United refuse Nayef Aguerd exit as contract offer emerges

West Ham are refusing to let Nayef Aguerd leave the club in the coming days, despite a £164,000 per week wage offer from a Saudi Arabian side, according to GOAL SA.

The digital sports news outlet shared via its Twitter account that a Saudi Arabian side are preparing a “great welcome” for the player, who has been offered £8.55million per year in wages.

West Ham are unwilling to let Aguerd leave in the near future due to the closure of the transfer window in England, as it would leave them unable to replace a key player in their team.

A potentially huge problem for the Hammers

Although they are refusing to let him go at this time, the money being offered to Aguerd by the Saudi Arabian side may prove tempting for the Moroccan. While it seems unlikely he would force a move away from East London, it is possible given the offer that’s on the table.

The transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes on Thursday [7 August], giving the clubs an extra week more than sides in England to get business done, which has left some clubs unsure of where they stand.

A report from Saudi journalist Salem Al Kulaib on 31 August claimed that Aguerd had given his approval to Al Ittihad, where he would link up with star names such as Ngolo Kante and Karim Benzema.

West Ham

The Moroccan has been a stalwart in David Moyes’ defence and started the first two games of the season before being sent off for two yellow cards against Chelsea, meaning he missed the brilliant 3-1 win against Brighton at the Amex.

In other West Ham news, the club will have to move quickly to seal a deal for player after overseas talks.
