West Ham United receive official bid for Nayef Aguerd exit as deadline looms

Al-Ittihad have submitted a bid for West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist reported via X (29 August) that the super-rich Saudi Arabian club sent an official proposal to the Hammers on Thursday (29 August).

Villarreal and Real Sociedad also maintain an interest in the defender, as well as several other European clubs.

As reported by Jacob Steinberg via The Guardian (29 August), Wolves are also interested in signing Aguerd on loan.

West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd to join Al-Ittihad?

It looks as if a decision is getting closer for Aguerd and West Ham with the transfer window set to shut on Friday (30 August).

Aguerd’s future appears to lie away from the London Stadium. However, it remains unclear where the Moroccan will end up beyond the transfer deadline.

With an official bid having arrived from Al-Ittihad, that puts pressure on other clubs interested in the centre-back to step forward and make a move.

While the player will no doubt have a say, and there are plenty of options for him to choose between, the conditions will also need to be right for the Hammers to let him go.

It is clear that Aguerd doesn’t have a future under Julen Lopetegui. However, that doesn’t mean the club will want to lose him unfavourably.

As a result, if this bid from Al-Ittihad is accepted, it will leave Aguerd with a decision to make, and not much time to make it.
