West Ham United ready ‘lucrative’ Tosin Adarabioyo contract amid Liverpool transfer interest

West Ham have readied a “lucrative long-term contract” for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo amid competition from Liverpool, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported on Monday (8 April) that the Hammers are now firmly in the race for the centre-back, who has also caught the eye of Liverpool, Tottenham and AC Milan.

West Ham are said to have targeted Adarabioyo as an alternative to Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, with David Moyes a fan of 26-year-old.

The report read: “TEAMtalk has been told West Ham have entered the race for the defender and are ready to offer a lucrative long-term contract to try and lure him to the London Stadium.

“Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bolster his side’s central defensive options in this summer’s transfer window and Adarabioyo is viewed as an attractive proposition for the Scot.”

Adarabioyo may already have made a decision over his Fulham future, as he has so far failed to agree fresh terms at Craven Cottage and will become a free agent in June.

Harry Maguire no longer on West Ham United transfer radar

West Ham’s interest in Maguire dominated much of last summer’s transfer window in terms of incoming activity, but in the end the club instead moved for Konstantinos Mavropanos.

It seems highly likely the Irons will move for another centre-back in the summer, assuming at least one currently at the club moves on, and Adarabioyo certainly seems a good fit.

West Ham

The former England Under-21s international – hailed as a “special” player by Marco Silva earlier this season – has made 76 Premier League appearances for Fulham, as well as representing the club in the Championship.

Given the fact he is available on a free, the Manchester City youth product will be able to demand a higher wage than if he was being signed for a fee.

That should not put West Ham off as they are effectively saving £10million or so on upfront costs.

While Adarabioyo may not be as exciting a name as a player from abroad, he has proved himself in the Premier League and would be a smart acquisition.
